iPhone 14 repair in West Covina

The iPhone 14 line (2022) is two different phones under one name. The 14 and 14 Plus look like a 13 on the outside, but Apple redesigned the inside so the back glass comes off as its own panel. The 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max introduced the Dynamic Island and an always-on screen, and kept the older bonded back. All four still charge through Lightning.

Screen

Which iPhone 14 do you have?

Settings › General › About shows the model name. Each one below takes its own screen, so the exact model matters when you call.

iPhone 14 models: screen, charging port, and repair notes
ModelScreenPortWorth knowing
iPhone 146.1-inch OLED, notchLightningBack glass is a separate panel.
iPhone 14 Plus6.7-inch OLED, notchLightningBig non-Pro screen. Back glass is a separate panel.
iPhone 14 Pro6.1-inch OLED, Dynamic Island, ProMotion, always-onLightningBack glass still bonded to the frame.
iPhone 14 Pro Max6.7-inch OLED, Dynamic Island, ProMotion, always-onLightningBack glass still bonded to the frame.

Screens: notch versus Dynamic Island

The 14 and 14 Plus have a notch and a 60Hz OLED. The 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max have the Dynamic Island cutout, ProMotion up to 120Hz, and an always-on mode. Same sizes, different parts — a 14 screen does not fit a 14 Pro.

OLED damage on a 14 usually shows as lines, a black screen that still rings, or touch that dies in one area, not just cracked glass. iPhone screens are $80–$160 with tempered glass included; the exact figure for your model is quoted at the counter.

Back glass: the 14 and 14 Plus are different

On the 14 and 14 Plus, the rear glass is a separate panel instead of being bonded to the whole frame. That makes a cracked back on those two a different job than on a 13 or a 14 Pro. On the 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max, the back glass is still bonded to the frame, which is a bigger job.

Either way, we look at it at the counter and quote it before we start. If the camera lens covers cracked too, we look at those in the same visit.

Lightning: the last numbered Lightning generation

The 14 family is the last numbered iPhone generation with a Lightning port. If it shows “Liquid detected in Lightning connector,” unplug it and let it dry — do not keep forcing a charge. If the alert will not clear once the phone is dry, or the cable only works at one angle, the port may be corroded or worn.

Bring your Lightning cable so we can see it fail. Lint at the back of the port is a common reason a cable will not seat; a worn port flex is the other.

Battery and eSIM

A 14 has a few years of daily charging on it by now. Battery Health is in Settings › Battery. If it shuts off with charge left or drains overnight, that is usually a battery job, quoted at the counter.

US iPhone 14 models have no SIM tray — they are eSIM only. A screen, battery, or charging-port job does not touch the eSIM; it lives on the phone’s board, not in the screen or battery.

What we post, and what we quote at the counter

  • iPhone screens are $80–$160 with tempered glass included. The exact figure for your iPhone 14 model is quoted at the counter or over the phone.
  • Battery, charging port, back glass, and board work are quoted at the counter for the phone in your hand. Call or walk in for an exact quote.
  • Screens, batteries, and charging ports are usually same-day when the part is here. Board work and water damage are slower. If we do not have the part, we do not start the job.
  • Walk in at 332 N Azusa Ave, West Covina, CA 91791, corner of Workman and Azusa, next to Leprechaun Liquor. No appointment. Call (909) 292-8295. People drive in from Covina, Azusa, Baldwin Park, Walnut, and La Puente — it is the same West Covina shop.

iPhone 14 questions

Before you bring in your iPhone 14

Is iPhone 14 back glass easier to replace than iPhone 14 Pro back glass?

The 14 and 14 Plus use a separate rear glass panel. The 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max keep the back glass bonded to the frame, which is a bigger job. We look at it and quote back glass at the counter for the exact phone.

Does the iPhone 14 use USB-C?

No. All four iPhone 14 models use Lightning. USB-C started with the iPhone 15. If yours only charges at an angle, bring the Lightning cable so we can see the fault.

What is the difference between an iPhone 14 and an iPhone 14 Pro screen?

The 14 and 14 Plus have a notch and a 60Hz OLED. The 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max have the Dynamic Island, ProMotion up to 120Hz, and always-on. They are different parts, so we need the exact model. iPhone screens are $80–$160 with tempered glass included.

Will a repair erase the eSIM on my iPhone 14?

No. A screen, battery, or charging-port job does not touch the eSIM. It lives on the phone’s board. US iPhone 14 models have no SIM tray at all, so there is nothing to pull out at the counter.

Can you fix an iPhone 14 the same day in West Covina?

Usually, when the part is here. Screens, batteries, and charging ports are usually same-day when the part is here. Board work and water damage are slower. Walk in at 332 N Azusa Ave, West Covina, CA 91791 — no appointment. Monday–Friday 10:00am–9:00pm, Saturday 3:00pm–7:00pm, Sunday closed. Call (909) 292-8295 with your exact model if you want us to check the part before you drive.
